Karen Rabins

LCSW

Karen Rabins is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with over thirty years of experience who specializes in working with adults. She treats people struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, parenting, relationship challenges, work/life balance, burnout and compassion fatigue, and low self-esteem. She has expertise in helping people navigate life transitions, such as the birth of a child, the empty nest syndrome, career changes, and life disruptions due to death, illness, caregiving, and divorce.

Karen uses a personalized, strengths-based, psychodynamic approach that incorporates positive psychology, mindfulness, and cognitive therapies to help people process their feelings and experiences. She believes that within the safety and support of a therapeutic partnership, people can access their own wisdom to respond to the challenges, confusions, and demands of their lives. Her philosophy: “If you’re working hard to manage feelings and circumstances you don’t like, why not use that energy to learn how to create something better for yourself.” Karen believes that each person has a unique imprint that deserves to be nurtured. She will support your journey with respect, presence, honesty, and a little humor.

Karen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in human development and family studies from Cornell University and a Master’s degree in social work from New York University. She has worked in hospitals, schools, outpatient mental health, and corporate wellness and behavioral health. She is an avid reader, loves a good story, travel, time with family and friends, and is an unabashed foodie.
