Jessica Smith
LCASJessica Smith is a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) and has been since 2016. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2009 from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and then earned her Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling in 2013 from Liberty University.
Jessica has been in the counseling field practicing since 2013, working primarily with substance use disorders and co-occurring issues in inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition to helping individuals recover from substance use disorders, Jessica also has experience working with healing from trauma, anxiety, depression, healing from codependency, addressing adult children of alcoholic/addict issues, and gambling addiction. Jessica is also able to provide Christian counseling for any of the mentioned issues and has a real passion for incorporating faith into the session if the client wishes to do so.
Jessica’s approach to counseling could be considered eclectic in that she tends to incorporate various modalities to meet the clients where they are and help them achieve their goals. She enjoys utilizing Motivational Interviewing to partner with clients in helping them find their motivation to change and meet them where they are in the recovery process. She also utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and provides psycho-education on recovery resources to support long-term recovery outside of the counseling relationship. If you are looking for someone to help you recover and grow, Jessica would be honored to be chosen as that therapist. She would love to help you cultivate your life so that you can heal & flourish.
Outside of work, you will find Jessica spending time with her husband, 2 children, and golden retriever Penny. She also enjoys trying new restaurants & coffee shops, spending time with friends, serving in her church’s women’s ministry, and reading good books in a comfy spot!
