That may sound good in a lyric.
In real life, it is a terrible trade.
A lot of burnout does not look dramatic. It does not always look like collapse, panic, or someone failing to function.
Sometimes it looks like still getting everything done, but with less patience, less presence, and less of yourself left.
It looks like irritability.
Emotional flatness.
Going through the motions.
Feeling increasingly detached from the life you are supposedly working so hard to maintain.
That is part of what makes burnout easy to miss, especially in professionals.
The people who are best at pushing through are often the last to notice what that pushing through is costing them.
From the outside, they still look productive.
Still dependable.
Still composed.
But functioning is not the same as being well.
Burnout is not something to romanticize.
It is often the slow erosion of energy, relationships, health, and the parts of you that used to feel most alive.
