Autumn Schoonover

Autumn Schoonover is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, having graduated from the Advance Standing program through The North Carolina University at Greensboro and the University of North Carolina A&T University with her Master of Social Work. Autumn graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Social Work. Autumn is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Social Work from Barry University in Maimi, Florida, with an emphasis on trauma-informed care.

Autumn has a diverse background and experience in mental health, having previously worked in a primary care setting, community mental health, collegiate counseling center, and with survivors of human trafficking and sexual violence; she feels that this experience brings a unique perspective to her role as a therapist. Utilizing a person-center, trauma-informed approach, Autumn values the therapeutic relationship and seeing a person for who they are, more so than a diagnosis or problem. Autumn enjoys working with children, teens, and young adults (mid-late 20s) facing various mental health and life challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, work and other life stress, self-esteem concerns, stage of life problems, and women’s issues, utilizing techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based Approach, and Play Therapy to work with clients towards improved emotional regulation, interpersonal relationships, and overall quality of life. Autumn is also happy to incorporate faith into therapy as requested.

Reaching out for support can be complicated and often the most difficult step in healing. Autumn recognizes this and believes therapy can be fun and enjoyable, integrating games and hands-on activities while working towards goals when appropriate. Outside of One80, Autumn enjoys spending time with her husband and toy poodle Luna, watching The Carolina Hurricanes, reading, and visiting local restaurants.
