Samantha Castro is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate (LMFTA). Sam has a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a minor in Religion and Psychology.
Sam wants everyone to feel they have someone on their side and feels we all need each other. Through lived and learned experiences, Sam creates a safe space for healing. A space in which she will be alongside you through the entire process.
Sam treats individuals, families, children and couples and seeks to create a collaborative therapeutic environment that helps each person achieve their treatment goals. Sam’s foundation in attachment theory informs the healing process within and amongst all forms of relationships including parent-child, couples, families, and relationships with self. Sam’s experience with play and art therapies, sand tray therapy, Emotion Focused therapy, Gottman Method, sex therapy, abuse and trauma, as well as panic and personality disorders inform her skills and abilities in relating to many of life’s challenges and treatment options. Through her experiences in church, both as a parishioner and working in the church, Sam has gained useful experience in helping others on a spiritual journey or recovering from church abuse and suffering. Sam offers Faith based therapy when requested by the client.
In addition, Sam has experience in government contract work with chemical weapons detection systems and building tactical gear. She has experienced the lives of miners, military members, and police officers. Sam is passionate about helping those who struggle to fit into everyday life with their work and relationships as it relates to these and other fields of work.
She also has a passion for helping those with intercultural and interracial relationships. These relationships come with their own set of challenges and struggles that we can work through.
Sam has a heart for working with children and believes a child’s language is play, and that’s how they see and view the world. Previously supervised by a play therapist, Sam has spent many hours learning the art of play and through that experience, has learned many techniques to help your children.
Born and raised in the beautiful mountain state of West Virginia where she started her career in the healthcare industry, Sam was introduced to experiences in working with people who live with chronic conditions, pain, grief, and mental health challenges. In addition to her passion for helping others, Sam has a love for cats, sports, food, tv, video games, music, and being outside!
Whatever challenges you face, come in and have a seat, and there is hope for your situation.
