Lindsay Tucker
MA, LCMHC-A
Lindsay obtained her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. She also interned at One-Eighty Counseling. Prior to that, she graduated with honors from Peace College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Services. Lindsay’s previous experience in the mental health field includes working at a community mental health agency as well as on an Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) where she worked with adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses and/or substance abuse disorders. Working with those clients helped Lindsay gain hands-on experience and confirmed her desire to work in the mental health field as a clinical mental health counselor.
Lindsay has experience working with clients in the areas of depression, anxiety, anger management, grief, life transitions, mood disorders, trauma, and relationship issues. Lindsay’s counseling treatment approach is integrated. She pulls from a variety of theoretical approaches, aiming to accommodate each individual client. That said, Lindsay is rooted in a person-centered approach, which emphasizes empathy, genuineness, and acceptance in the counseling relationship. She also utilizes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and solution-focused therapy. If requested, she can also provide Christian counseling.
Lindsay is a certified SYMBIS and SYMBIS+ Facilitator. SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) lowers a couple’s risk factors for separation and optimizes their combined strengths as a couple. SYMBIS assesses multiple areas from psychological well-being to revealing how a couple’s combined personalities can come together for optimal marital success. SYMBIS+ is the married couple’s equivalent.
Lindsay enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. She also enjoys cooking and cheering for the Tar Heels. (Don’t worry, she respects Duke fans, too.) Lindsay has a passion and calling to work alongside all clients as they persevere through pain and experience freedom through the process.
