Laura Walters

MA, LCMHC, LCAS

Laura is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor(LCMHC) and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS). She earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Campbell University and Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Gerontology from Barton College.

Laura strives to create a safe place where you can feel free to be yourself in a compassionate, non-judgmental space. She will provide unconditional positive regard and empathy to help achieve rapport, and help achieve goals including managing emotions, improving your overall well-being, and helping you to find more life satisfaction. During our session, Laura will use a variety of therapeutic techniques to meet your individual needs including interventions used in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered, and Solution Focused Therapy.

Laura enjoys working with adolescents (ages 14 -17) and adults. She has clinical experiences in the areas of mood, anxiety, bipolar, depression, PTSD, trauma, grief, stress management, substance use disorders, and more. Laura is an EMDR trained therapist. EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy utilized in the treatment of PTSD and trauma and has also proven to be effective in the treatment of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and addiction.
