Freda has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for 20+ years. She currently works primarily with adolescents and adults across the lifespan. She specializes in supporting caregivers of loved ones with autism, IDD, and other special needs as they manage what is often chronic stress. Freda is committed to utilizing a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness and Somatic-Based techniques, to meet the unique needs of each client. Her approach to the therapeutic relationship is trauma-informed, and one of genuine warmth and support, collaborating with clients to help them find compassion and safety for all parts of themselves as they face the challenges and complexities of life. Freda invites clients to develop a better understanding of their nervous system responses, and ways to navigate and regulate these responses in their daily lives in the direction of change, greater connection, and wellness. She is passionate about the healing and growth that often follow this increased awareness of the nervous system and the development of skills to support it.
Whether you have been in therapy before, or you are taking a courageous first step toward the support you need, Freda would consider it a privilege to be a part of your journey.
When not working, Freda enjoys time spent in nature, long walks with her dog, listening to music and podcasts, and visits to the mountains of western North Carolina.
