Kayla Price is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate (LCASA). Her approach to therapy is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and meeting clients where they are. Kayla’s goal is to work alongside clients to better understand what they are experiencing, identify what is and is not working, and build on the strengths and skills they already have. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Meredith College and her Master of Social Work from North Carolina State University.
Before graduate school, Kayla worked as a house manager and nanny for a variety of families, supporting children and caregivers through the everyday challenges and transitions of infancy, toddlerhood, and parenting. This experience taught her the importance of patience, empathy, clear communication, and emotional regulation, while also helping her recognize the strengths and skills that each person brings to challenging situations. Most importantly, these experiences deepened Kayla’s passion for helping people feel understood and supported while navigating all seasons of life. During graduate school, Kayla completed an intense clinical internship, where she provided clinical services to individuals with substance use disorders and a range of co-occurring mental health diagnoses. Her clinical experience reinforced the importance of meeting people where they are and leading with curiosity. Kayla believes that understanding the “why” behind our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors can be an important part of creating meaningful change.
In therapy, Kayla takes an individualized and collaborative approach. She may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and strengths-based approaches. She is particularly interested in the connection between the mind and body and how our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and experiences influence how we feel and show up in our daily lives. Kayla believes therapy does not have to be about having all the answers or “fixing” yourself. Instead, it can be a place to slow down, make sense of what you are experiencing, better understand your patterns, and figure out what you want to do differently. She works to help clients recognize their own strengths, develop practical skills, and move toward a life that feels more aligned with who they are and where they want to go.
Outside of the therapy room, Kayla enjoys the simple things that help her slow down and recharge. You can often find her at home with her dog, trying a new recipe in the kitchen, or spending time on the water. Whether it is a day at the lake or a trip to the beach, Kayla finds that being on the water is one of her favorite ways to relax and reset. She believes that having time to enjoy the people, places, and things that bring us happiness is an important part of taking care of ourselves—and she tries to make room for those things in her own life, too.
