Allisa is a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor who earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University in August of 2025. Before that, she graduated with Honors from UNC Pembroke, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Special Education. She was a 6th-grade teacher for the last four years in Wake County Schools.
Allisa’s previous experience in the mental health field includes working in community mental health, helping adults who had severe substance use disorders and/or mental health disorders. She gained her graduate intern experience at One-Eighty Counseling, where she worked with adults, adolescents, couples, and families. These experiences allowed Allisa to gain hands-on experience, and she found a renewed passion for the field of mental health counseling.
Allisa is available to treat children 6+, teens, adults and couples. Allisa’s background as a public school educator, provides her with expertise when counseling children, adolescents and parents. She strongly values the therapeutic relationship and believes it is the foundation for invaluable therapeutic work to occur. Allisa uses an integrated approach best to meet the needs of each of her clients. She has a strong foundation in a person-centered approach and believes it is best practice to offer clients unconditional empathy and positive regard. Along with this, Allisa utilizes a holistic framework that combines a variety of modalities to meet each client’s needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed therapy, play therapy and narrative therapy.
Outside of work, Allisa enjoys going to the gym, visiting the mountains and hiking, and spending time with her family. She also loves exploring every cute, locally owned coffee shop and restaurant the Triangle has to offer.
