Anna Smith
MSW, LCSW, LCAS
Anna is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) in the state of North Carolina. She received a master’s degree in social work from Simmons University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from James Madison University. Anna has clinical experience partnering with adults (18 and older) who are working to overcome the impact of trauma, PTSD, anxiety, substance use, depression, grief, and mood and personality disorders.
Anna utilizes a humanistic approach to therapy that focuses on building self-awareness, reducing negative symptomology, and increasing confidence. She recognizes that creating a safe, nonjudgmental space to be yourself is a vital element to support meaningful and lasting change.
In therapy, Anna utilizes several modalities of evidence-based treatments, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Somatic Therapy, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Mindfulness, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Anna is passionate about providing psychoeducation to help clients better understand the underlying reasons for their symptoms, increase knowledge of the mind and body connection, and begin to practice and learn coping strategies that support well-being across a spectrum of needs.
In her spare time, Anna enjoys gardening, baking, true crime, being outdoors, and photography.
