Catherine Cuomo

LCMHCS

Catherine is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with nearly 20 years of experience working in a wide range of clinical settings. She works primarily with older adolescents and adults across the lifespan.

At the heart of Catherine’s work is a strong, collaborative therapeutic relationship grounded in warmth, empathy, and authenticity. She takes a compassionate, strengths-based approach, partnering with clients to help them move toward greater clarity, balance, and connection. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, trauma, grief and loss, chronic pain and health-related issues, parenting challenges, and relational distress.

Catherine’s work is informed by a deep understanding of trauma and attachment, and she integrates evidence-based, model-specific approaches tailored to each client’s needs. Her primary therapeutic lens is Internal Family Systems (IFS), a model that helps clients develop curiosity and compassion toward their internal experiences while supporting lasting, meaningful change. Additionally, she is fully trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and holds advanced training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Attachment-Focused Family Therapy.

Catherine graduated with honors from Furman University and earned her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education from the University of Colorado Denver, where she was named Outstanding Graduate by the faculty.

Clients often describe Catherine as calm, attuned, and deeply present. She creates a supportive space where clients feel safe exploring difficult emotions at their own pace while also allowing room for lightness and even humor when appropriate. Her style is interactive and respectful, allowing therapy to feel both deeply supportive and human.
