Julia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who is dedicated to helping individuals enhance their emotional well-being. Julia has 10 years of experience in the mental health field. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Appalachian State University in 2011 and achieved her Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2012. She has provided community-based mental health therapy, inpatient care, and outpatient therapy services.
Julia’s areas of clinical expertise include trauma, anxiety, and depression. She enjoys working with teens, parents, and adults. She has obtained extensive training in evidence-based practices including: Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Julia is passionate about helping her clients navigate challenging emotions related to trauma. TF-CBT is a psychotherapy model for individuals impacted by trauma who experience emotional & behavioral difficulties. It uses trauma-sensitive interventions with cognitive behavioral, family, & humanistic principles.
In her approach, Julia brings a compassionate and accepting space that honors one’s strengths and personal goals to better manage symptoms. She is devoted to using effective methods while taking a gentle, safe, and fun approach to therapy. Therapy sessions include education & skills to promote relaxation, emotional expression, and diffuse unhelpful thinking. Julia is only available to provide sessions via telehealth.
