Emily is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, National Certified Counselor, and EMDR Trained Therapist. She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Emily’s experience includes working in agencies specializing in outpatient substance use disorder treatment, inpatient and partial hospitalization eating disorder treatment, and outpatient mental health settings. She utilizes an integrative approach to cater to each individual’s treatment goals using various therapeutic approaches, including, but not limited to, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR Therapy), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness skills.

Emily has experience working with adult individuals living with substance use disorders, trauma, eating disorders, body image issues, anxiety, depression, grief, domestic violence, and sexual assault. She can assist athletes at any skill level to improve mental focus that may be getting in the way of performance as well as help guide mental clarity when under pressure. She understands the mind-body connection, the emotions stored in the body, and helps individuals develop their own awareness for improved daily functioning. She believes individuals have the capabilities to direct their lives in an adaptive and positive direction, providing a non-judgmental and inviting space for growth.
