Jenny is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She earned both her Master’s degree in Social Work and her Bachelor’s degree with Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Jenny has over 25 years of experience working with and advocating for individuals and families in crisis, serving a number of organizations focusing on mental health, suicide prevention, domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse during her career, including the last 10 years at One80. Not only is she adept at assisting those experiencing acute crisis but also enjoys helping people be the best they can be.
Jenny feels that the therapeutic relationship is of the utmost importance and strives to put people at ease, providing a safe and caring,non-judgmental environment where clients can really process through issues, focus on what they want to achieve and work towards that.
She uses an eclectic approach in treatment, recognizing that no one particular modality fits everyone. Jenny utilizes a number of evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), all with a trauma-informed, client-centered approach. Psychodynamic Therapy is also often incorporated in her practice to identify the foundation and formation of a client’s psychological processes in order to decrease symptoms and improve life overall.
Jenny works with individuals across the lifespan and is comfortable addressing a wide range of clinical concerns, including mood, anxiety and bipolar disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, parenting, relationships, behavior, stress-management, and crisis intervention. While she has experience supporting clients at all stages of life, her primary focus is working with adolescents and adults. She also supports individuals navigating normative developmental milestones as well as unexpected life transitions, promoting healthy adjustment and resilience during periods of change.
Jenny is also certified in Perinatal Mental Health with Postpartum Support International (PSI) and has specialized training in working with individuals navigating pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, pregnancy loss, and the transition to parenthood. She understands the emotional complexity that can accompany this season of life and provides compassionate, evidence-based care to support parents and growing families.
In addition, Jenny provides sex therapy for individuals and couples seeking support around intimacy, sexual health, desire discrepancies, communication, and relational concerns. She offers a respectful, informed, and non-judgmental space where clients can openly explore topics that may feel vulnerable or difficult to discuss. Jenny recognizes that sexuality is an important part of overall well-being and works collaboratively with clients to address concerns, reduce shame, strengthen connection, and foster fulfilling intimate relationships.
Jenny can be seen in person in the Garner office and is also trained in distance counseling and may provide telehealth sessions upon request.
