Sara is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who earned her Master’s degree from UNC Greensboro in 2013 and her Bachelor’s degree from UNC Chapel Hill in 2008. Her approach to therapy involves understanding each client’s unique situation with sensitivity, while providing a non-judgmental and supportive environment. She strives to empower her clients by helping them to identify and build upon their individual strengths and abilities. Sara also believes that a therapeutic relationship is built upon empathy, genuineness, and mutual respect. She aims to meet clients where they are and walk alongside them in meeting their personal goals.
Sara specializes in treating adults and adolescents in the areas of anxiety, depression, stress management, adjustment difficulties, self-esteem, body image, and social skills. Her approach blends various evidence-based treatment modalities to meet her clients’ specific needs, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused techniques.
Sara strives to empower her clients by helping them to develop tools for managing symptoms that can be applied in their everyday lives. During sessions, she also focuses on helping to enhance insight and self-awareness, while increasing overall feelings of self-confidence and acceptance. When working with adolescents, Sara values building trust and open communication, as well as incorporating their interests, developmental level, and unique strengths in a customized treatment plan that is both engaging and effective.
