Carla is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who has practiced in a variety of settings including schools, community mental health, and a residential treatment center. Carla has provided individual, group, and family therapy as well as clinical case management, crisis intervention, and assessment to children and adults confronting depression, anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions, and substance use disorders.
Humanistic, existential, and experiential approaches guide Carla’s practice. In counseling sessions with adolescents 12+ through adults of all ages, she strives to offer a setting that provides warmth, honesty, and support while partnering with clients to help build self-awareness, make meaning of their circumstances, explore their conflicts, and reach a better state of existence.
The quote from Jon Kabat-Zin, “You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf” captures much of what she likes to help people do; learn to find stability in turbulence.
